Capital Caring Health Announces A Unique Hospice Role with Major Benefits for the DC Metro Area

(Falls Church, VA) Oct. 8, 2019 – With the appointment today of longtime clinical specialist and pastor Carolyn Richar as our first Chief Mission Officer, we believe we are the first Hospice in the nation to provide local community service that reinforces our Mission and Core Values with two community outreach services and four specialty teams under Carolyn’s direction.

Capital Caring Health is very proud of our extensive Family Services outreach offered through social workers and chaplains who provide presentations on advanced illness topics at the request of local community groups. Over 1,000 Community Engagement volunteers work closely with the other support teams to help families discover all the care and support available to them from our dedicated staff.

Additionally, these four specialty teams include: 1) our Point of Hope Grief Counselors for all ages; 2) Children’s Hospice and Palliative Care; 3) Veterans’ Health and Support; and 4) Pet Peace of Mind which helps our patients keep their pets at their side throughout their illness.

Remarking on her new appointment Reverend Richar said,” I am thrilled to lead our inhouse teams and our wonderful volunteers that day in and out have a real and permanent impact on all the communities we serve.”

Under Carolyn’s leadership increased emphasis will be placed on explaining Hospice care to community senior citizen centers, community faith leaders, and other community counselors in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

“One major offering that should be better known,” said Carolyn,” is that our Point of Hope grief counseling teams are available to every family in our service area—they need not be under our Hospice Care nor do we charge for this invaluable support.”

Asked about Carolyn’s appointment CEO Tom Koutsoumpas said,” Carolyn and her dedicated team members and volunteers will enhance our mission of advanced illness care of the highest quality for every family who needs us when they need us.”
