Gala Chairs Alisa Valudes Whyte and Dr. John Whyte are pleased to announce that the 2020 Passion for Caring Gala: Honoring the Heroes Among Us will be a virtual event that recognizes local healthcare, community, and social justice heroes, nominated by members of the community, who have made a significant impact during the COVID-19 crisis or through their fight for racial equity. The Gala campaign will include a series of preview announcements beginning in August that will recognize a weekly winner from each of the three categories – healthcare, community (delivery personnel, grocery workers, etc.), and social justice (advocate, community leader, etc.).
The weekly announcements will culminate on the virtual Gala date, October 3, with a presentation of the final honorees in each category who will receive the annual Passion for Caring Award. Throughout the Gala weekend, community members will be able to support Capital Caring Health’s COVID-19 recovery efforts by participating in an online auction and pledge drive. Participants will also have the opportunity to view a special Gala video program that will feature messages from the President and CEO Tom Koutsoumpas along with other special guests.
All proceeds raised from the 2020 Passion for Caring Gala will support Capital Caring Health’s emerging needs from COVID-19 such as TeleHealth equipment in patients’ homes, Personal Protective Equipment for frontline staff, meal delivery to alleviate food insecurity for patients, expanded grief support and mental health services, increased pediatric care requirements, and Patient Care Fund resources to care for new patients regardless of their ability to pay. The virtual Gala is FREE and open to the public. With your help, we can ensure care continues for the most vulnerable members of our community.
