Capital Caring Health is committed to ensuring that patients have access to the care and support they need to remain in their homes, in comfort and with all those that they love. Volunteers play an important part in helping patients with home pet care, and specially trained dogs provide unconditional love and comfort to bereaved children, as well as adults who may have difficulty communicating due to illness or disability as part of our Pet Therapy program.Jenna Cooley, Director of Community Engagement oversees the Patient Pet Services program.

Capital Caring Health is the first and only hospice in the region to participate in the Pet Peace of Mind program, a national network of hospice care provides that understand the important emotional and spiritual connection pets provide for patients.

The program is primarily administered by Capital Caring Health volunteers under the direction of their Volunteer Services Coordinators.
