CapitalCaringHands_smallAt the heart of Capital Caring’s dedicated staff you’ll find our Nursing Assistants – caring professionals whose calling has led them to help individuals in need. It is an honor to recognize our Nursing Assistants this week and to thank them for all they have done for Capital Caring and the nearly 110,000 moms, dads, and kids who entrust their care to us. Our nursing assistants have committed countless hours to ensuring the comfort of men, women, and children facing life-limiting illness.

This week is the 40th anniversary of the annual recognition of National Nursing Assistants Week – coincidentally, it is also Capital Caring’s 40th anniversary year, and we are so pleased to have worked with hundreds of Nursing Assistants over the past four decades. National Nursing Assistants Week was created to show gratitude to the Nursing Assistants who have a direct impact on our lives – and in the case of Capital Caring, the impact they have on advanced illness care and support.

Nursing Assistants can represent as much as 80-90 percent of the direct care that patients in long-term care receive – they provide stability, support, and compassion to those whose condition requires assistance from others. All of us at Capital Caring know that we could not meet our mission to simply improve care without the dedication of the Nursing Assistants who devote their time and expertise to hospice and palliative care.

Capital Caring has long been a model for hospice care across the nation, and much of the pride that we feel in our ability to provide this world-class care is directly tied to the passion we celebrate in our Nursing Assistants.

So, as we celebrate National Nursing Assistants Week, all of us at Capital Caring would like to take a moment to thank these kind souls and all the love they pass directly from their soothing touch to the nearly 1,400 people we care for every day.
