NailsIt’s not every day a young girl in Prince George’s County, Maryland, gets to be a princess. But Capital Caring helped make that a reality for a young girl whose mother passed away in April. Hannah is a bright and energetic 10-year-old who maintains good grades, plays the guitar, dances, and sings in her church choir.

At Capital Caring, we pride ourselves on doing more for the families we serve and are committed to providing compassionate care to all those impacted when someone near and dear passes away. And so is Princess Sora Saud, the granddaughter of former Saudi King, King Abdullah. As a cultural ambassador, Princess Sora advocates for women’s causes around the world and supports a wide range of humanitarian organizations, including Capital Caring. “Capital Caring provides patients and their families with hope, courage, and connection. I am truly honored to support their charitable work,” said Princess Sora. “Hannah is a remarkable young woman full of life and laughter. I am grateful for the opportunity to spend time with her.”

When the princess heard that Hannah recently lost her mom, she told us she would like to treat this young woman to a “princess for a day” experience. Capital Caring’s staff jumped into high gear to make it work! On Saturday, June 4, a limo arrived at Hannah’s house in Lanham, MD, and took her, her dad, Ralph, and her aunt to Tyson’s Galleria in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia. Princess Sora and her husband, Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal, met the family when they arrived, and everyone sat down to a delicious lunch at the Neiman Marcus Café. Once lunch was over, Princess Sora and Hannah relaxed while getting their nails done in a local salon, and then enjoyed a bit of shopping in Neiman Marcus.

“We are so grateful for everything,” said Hannah’s dad. “Hannah was incredibly excited to meet the princess and her husband and couldn’t wait to wear one of her new dresses to church the next day.”

Likewise, Capital Caring is grateful for the opportunity to support Hannah, her mom, her dad, and her entire family throughout her mom’s illness and beyond via our bereavement program.

We are so thankful for Princess Sora’s generosity of spirit and compassion for others. We appreciate all she did to provide Hannah and her family with memories they will carry for many years and to help Capital Caring continue providing the world-class service for which it is known to all those we serve.
